Bad Decision, Mama Bird
Apr 13, 2021I don't recall seeing a woodcock prior to living at my current home. Here, they are everywhere! It's important to note that, woodcocks are ground-nesting birds that breed in the spring.
Which brings me to my current predicament: Mama bird laid her eggs in the middle of my gravel driveway.
And, she's an angry bird when anything approaches her (I don't fault her for that!). I was lucky to get these pictures when I took the trash out.
The internet tells me the eggs should hatch in about 3 weeks.
Meanwhile, I have my markers for the snow plow "guarding" the nest and I put a note on my Amazon account to not bring packages up to the house. Cross your fingers we'll have 4 new baby birds soon and I will be able to reclaim my driveway back!!
