For more than 15 years, I’ve worked closely with law firms — not as a bookkeeper, not as an accountant, and not as a compliance vendor — but as a strategic financial partner who helps owners see what the numbers really mean and what to do about them.
I didn’t start as a CFO.
I started as a business owner.
After graduating at the top of my high school class and earning a scholarship as a Division I athlete, I began my career in Big 4 accounting with big dreams — partner, corner office, the whole picture. But life — and business — had other lessons planned.
In 2005, I opened my first CPA firm. I worked harder than ever. I took every client who walked in the door. I worked through pregnancies and barely took a week off after giving birth. I pushed myself to the limit, convinced that hard work alone would solve everything.
But it didn’t.
I was overwhelmed. Stressed about money. I had no role model for what it meant to run a business, and no one to talk to about it. I read books, bought courses, watched webinars — everything I could find — trying to figure out how to make it work.
And slowly, I did.
I learned that financial clarity doesn’t come from working harder. It comes from strategic thinking, disciplined decisions, and a leadership mindset grounded in data and goals.
And from that journey, Profit Scale Thrive was born.
Along the way, something interesting happened:
Most of my clients were lawyers.
And not by accident.
Law firms have unique financial rules, rhythms, and risks — from how revenue is earned and collected, to trust accounting requirements, to partner compensation decisions that can make or break cash flow.
I realized I wasn’t just good at financial strategy — I understood the business of law better than most third parties who work with law firms. That realization reshaped my focus and gave me a niche I’m deeply passionate about.
Today, I work exclusively with law firm owners. Because strategy that works for a tech startup or a retailer won’t always fit a legal practice — and frankly, lawyers deserve advisors who speak their language.
