I used to believe that the grass was greener everywhere other than where I was. It took me years to realize the truth is the grass is greener where you water it.

I learned growing up that working harder was the "right" way which served me well for a very long time. Until it didn't.

I graduated at the top of my high school class while also working part-time and being a student-athlete throughout high school, earned a scholarship to a Division I school for track and field (discus and javelin thrower), and it made me invaluable when I started my career in Big 4 where I was determined to become a partner (and an office managing partner with a big corner office when I really dared to dream).

But when I opened my first business, a now-closed CPA firm in 2005, the harder I worked, the more I struggled.

I was so overwhelmed and overworked that I was ready to throw it all away and go back to work a sucky 8-5 for an unappreciative employer.

I was working all of the time but still stressed about money. Wondering, can I afford to hire someone to help take some of the load off of me?

Feeling guilty when I took time away from work to spend with family and friends or god-forbid take a few hours to enjoy a hobby.

I worked until the day I went into labor and barely took a week off work after giving birth to each of my girls.

I wanted to be in a position where I did not have to choose between my clients and my personal life or my mental and physical health. Run my firm so it allowed me to take time off when I needed to and when I wanted. 

Knowing I have money in the bank for strategic growth as well as unexpected things that may arise.

Then, I realized that having a college degree and having passed the CPA exam, neither qualified me to be a business owner.

So, I set out to search for answers on how to improve my firm, but none of my family or friends owned a business. I had nobody to talk to.

That led me to read volumes of business books, buy hundreds of courses, and watch countless hours of webinars in pursuit of a better way. And, I figured it out for me and my clients!

But enough about me...
